Bringing Seeds of Hope for a New Beginning
The Golden Child Project is one of our signature service projects and has been bringing hope, joy, and unforgettable experiences to terminally ill children for more than 25 years. Each year, approximately 30 children under the age of 12 are invited from Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM) to enjoy a memorable three-day, two-night retreat at A’Famosa Melaka, hosted by our sister club, the Rotary Club of Tampin.
Accompanied by doctors, nurses, parents, and guardians, these children—many of whom have complex medical conditions and spend much of their time in hospitals or at home—are given the opportunity to experience fun-filled outdoor activities, exciting adventures, and moments of laughter that are often beyond their everyday lives. The programme is designed to create cherished memories, uplift their spirits, and provide families with meaningful time together in a supportive and joyful environment.
Over the years, the Golden Child Project has been made possible through the unwavering support of A’Famosa, the Rotary Club of Tampin, the Rotary Club of Makati West (Philippines), the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island, and the Rotary Club of Ichihara (Japan). Beyond creating joyful experiences, the programme also raises awareness that serious illnesses such as cancer can affect children as well as adults, highlighting the importance of compassion, community support, and access to care for young patients and their families.
Today, the Golden Child Project remains a hallmark of our club’s commitment to Service Above Self—bringing together partners, volunteers, and communities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children who need it most.
