empowering single mothers the way to a new life!
The Super Mum Project is a social enterprise initiative by the Rotary Club of Petaling Jaya, established in collaboration with PPB Group Berhad to empower single mothers through skills development and entrepreneurship. The programme provides participants with practical baking skills and business knowledge, equipping them with opportunities to generate a sustainable source of income while building confidence and financial independence.
To support the programme, PPB Group Berhad contributed baking equipment, renovation costs for a dedicated baking studio at the Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) premises in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya, and transport allowances to enable trainees to complete the course. A professional chef lecturer conducts a comprehensive 10-week training programme comprising ten modules covering cakes, cookies, pastries, breads, and buns, while also introducing participants to the fundamentals of running a small business.
Upon completing the programme, participants are encouraged to produce and sell their baked goods, with the Rotary Club of Petaling Jaya providing a platform to help market their products and connect them with potential customers. Beyond developing technical skills, the initiative aims to enhance participants’ entrepreneurial capabilities, support their re-entry into the workforce as pastry chefs or small business owners, and provide a pathway towards greater economic resilience and long-term self-sufficiency.
